The Lonely Passenger Project
I’ve had some form of the Lonely Passenger project in my head for a long time, but the idea in its current and most cohesive form began in my freshman year art class. Most of our assignments had to do with drawing still-lifes from observation, but during our study of perspective there was one where we were asked to design a video game level on an isometric grid. I knew I wanted to do something science fiction, and I really like the Monument Valley series of mobile games, so I took some inspiration from both of those and created something I really liked and wanted to pursue more. In a nutshell, the story follows an interstellar traveler flying a converted passenger ship that crashes on a remote planet. In the crash his distress beacon is damaged, and on his quest to repair it he discovers the long-dead ruins of an ancient civilization and befriends an abandoned, artificially intelligent wooden staff. My hope is to create a story about isolation and our need for others, although I’m not sure yet in what format yet. For now I’m still in the concept phase, refining the characters and aesthetics. So while most of the details aren’t final yet, feel free to take a look at what I’ve done so far!
